Question 5. Why do you think that ordinary men and women did not generally keep records of what they did?

Answer: We think ordinary men and women generally did not keep records for the following reasons:

They didn’t know the art of writing in the beginning.
They did not know the significance of writing.
They didn’t have any interest in writing.

Question 6. Describe at least two ways in which you think the lives of kings would have been different from those of peasants?

Answer: Kings had always been a supreme power and peasants were always marginal. Hence, differences between the lives of both can be understood by comparing their residences (king lived in palace, farmer lived in a hut or small house), foods (kings used different types of edibles as per his choice whereas farmer ate for removal of appetite /hunger). Likewise, differences can be seen in the wearing, transportation, house articles.

Question 7. Find the work craftspeople on page 1. List at least five different crafts that you know about today. Are they craftspersons?
