The Squirrel Story
Munnu is a very naughty child. All the time keeps on bubbling from here to there. One moment under the chair and the next moment on top of the bed. Sometimes sitting on the bed reading books and sometimes watching your favorite cartoon on TV. But his favorite place is the nearby field where he keeps watching the squirrels climbing up and down the trees.
Squirrels are so agile. Their ears are long and pointed. The slightest sound makes her come to know and immediately runs away from there. What to say about his tail! It is covered with so thick and soft fur.
When a squirrel sits on its hind legs and nibbles on a fruit with its front legs, it looks so cute. He has only one task, coming out of his coat and sometimes running on this branch and sometimes on that branch. She runs away with such speed that just don’t ask!
Munnu goes to that field and gets lost in the world of squirrels. When chasing a squirrel with three stripes on its back, he does not realize how much time passes.
One such day when he reached the field in the evening, he saw a cat lying behind a squirrel. The squirrel was running away from him very quickly, but the cat was also no less. Munnu hurriedly reached behind the cat and stomped his foot.
The cat got scared of the sudden noise and ran away. Munnu became very happy. As soon as she noticed the squirrel, she had already reached the tree. Seeing the agility of the squirrel, he smiled in his heart and left from there.
The next day he had just reached the field in the evening when he saw that the cat had caught the squirrel in its claws. The squirrel was writhing but the sharp claws of the cat were gripping its body. Munnu looked around. He saw a dry branch lying nearby.
He snatched it up and jumped suddenly after the cat. As the cat turned to look at the sudden movement behind it, its attention was diverted from the squirrel and its paw fell loose. Munnu showed the branch from behind. The cat ran away in fear.
The squirrel had escaped from his claws but was badly injured. Munnu quickly picked her up and ran towards home. He washed the squirrel’s wounds and applied ointment. The squirrel was still lying motionless. Munnu dripped each drop of water in the squirrel’s mouth with his hands.
Slowly he drank water and opened his eyes for a while. Munnu became very happy. He brought a basket lying in the courtyard. In it, with the help of his mother, by laying old clothes in the basket, he made a mattress for the squirrel. Now slowly Munnu made her lie there.
The squirrel slowly opened its eyes as if thanking Munnu. Then she closed her eyes and fell asleep peacefully.
Mannu picked up the basket and placed it on his bed. He fell asleep keeping it close to him, but would get up every once in a while and peep into the basket.

When morning came, there was a sound of chirp. Munnu woke up. He peeped into the basket. The squirrel had opened its eyes and was looking better than before. Munnu then gave him some water to drink and put some pomegranate seeds in the basket. The squirrel slowly started nibbling them.
Munnu was feeling very good today. Munnu took good care of her and dressed her wounds. After three days the squirrel started getting better. She was starting to recognize him now. Sometimes she would peep from inside the basket and sometimes she would climb on the window and see him.
When Munnu would come back from school, she would immediately hug his feet. Now both of them had become friends. Wherever you go, you go with them. Now Munnu had named the squirrel as “Pyaari”.
