Environment is made up of our life, it provides us pure wind food and natural resources. Which is a complete part of our life. That’s why we should not give any nook to the environment. Next we will get information about what is environment and its problems.

1. I Love the Earth

I love the Earth
And everything that lives.

I love the plants
And the beauty each one gives.

I love the animals
And the fishes at sea.

For I am a part of Mother Earth
And it’s a part of me.

….Sharon Mattioli

2. Earth Day

Poem on Environment

I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,

Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.

And just as I
Need every bit
Of me to make
My body fit,

So Earth needs
Grass and stone and tree
And things that grow here
Naturally.

That’s why we
Celebrate this day.
That’s why across
The world we say:

As long as life,
As dear, as free,
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.

….Jane Yolen

3. Nature Aria

Autumn wind chases in
From all directions
And a thousand chaste leaves
Give way.

Scatter in me the seeds
Of a thousand saplings.
Let grow a grassy heaven.
On my brow: a sun.

This bliss is yours, Living
World, and alone it endures.
Music at midnight.
Young wine.

Lovers hand in hand
By daylight, moonlight.
Living World, hold me
In your mouth,

Slip on your frivolous shoes
And dance with me. My soul
Is the wild vine
Who alone has grasped it,

Who has seen through the awful plot,
Who will arrive in time to vanquish
The river already heavy with blossoms,
The moon spilling light onto packs

Of men. What is sadder than witless
Wolves, wind without borders,
Nationless birds, small gifts
Laden with love’s intentions?

Fistfuls of rain fall hard, fill
My heart with mud. An old wind
May still come chasing in.

Resurrection fire. And me here
Laughing like a cloud in trousers,
Entreating the earth to bury me.

Short Poem on Environment

4. On the Grasshopper and Cricket

The poetry of earth is never dead:
When all the birds are faint with the hot sun,
And hide in cooling trees, a voice will run

From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead;
That is the Grasshopper’s–he takes the lead
In summer luxury,–he has never done

With his delights; for when tired out with fun
He rests at ease beneath some pleasant weed.
The poetry of earth is ceasing never:

On a lone winter evening, when the frost
Has wrought a silence, from the stove there shrills
The Cricket’s song, in warmth increasing ever,

And seems to one in drowsiness half lost,
The Grasshopper’s among some grassy hills.

….John Keats

5. Art Project: Earth

Balloon, then papier mâché.
Gray paint, blue and turquoise, green,
a clouded world with fishing line attached

to an old light, original to the house, faux brass
chipping, discolored, an ugly thing. What must
the people of this planet think, the ground

knobby and dry, the oceans blue powder,
the farmland stiff and carefully maintained.
Sometimes they spin one direction,

then back again. How the coyotes howl.
How the people learn to love, regardless.
The majesty of their own towering hearts.

The mountains, which they agree are beautiful.
And the turquoise—never has there been
such a color, breaking into precious

and semi-precious stones. They build houses
from them, grand places of worship,
and there is much to worship. Look up,

for instance. Six suns. The wonder of it.
First one, then the next, eclipsing
the possibility that their world hangs by a thread.

6. “Nature” Is What We See

“Nature” is what we see—
The Hill—the Afternoon—
Squirrel—Eclipse— the Bumble bee—
Nay—Nature is Heaven—
Nature is what we hear—
The Bobolink—the Sea—
Thunder—the Cricket—
Nay—Nature is Harmony—
Nature is what we know—
Yet have no art to say—
So impotent Our Wisdom is
To her Simplicity.

7. Earth Your Dancing Place

Beneath heaven’s vault
remember always walking
through halls of cloud
down aisles of sunlight
or through high hedges
of the green rain

walk in the world
highheeled with swirl of cape
hand at the swordhilt
of your pride
Keep a tall throat
Remain aghast at life

Enter each day
as upon a stage
lighted and waiting
for your step
Crave upward as flame
have keenness in the nostril

Give your eyes
to agony or rapture
Tain your hands
as birds to be
brooding or nimble
Move your body

As the horses
sweeping on slender hooves
over crag and prairie
with fleeing manes
and aloofness of their limbs
Take earth for your own large room

and the floor of the earth
carpeted with sunlight
and hung round with silver wind
for your dancing place

….May Swenson

8. Our Territorial Earth

Poem on Environment

Our Earth, oh so big,
We can do anything,
anything we wish in a blink,

“Look how advance” is what we think,
But the truth is really going to sink.
Our Earth, oh so green,

I cannot tell what we’ve seen,
The wares we waged scarred the earth,
Polluting it even though its not worth.

Our Earth, was a paradise,
We will tell next generation these lies,
It’s not to late, let’s listen to the cries,

We have to help Earth, make it a paradise,
Help the earth grow, its worth a shot,
Let’s not waste time, look at the clock

….Jisha Anand Shastri

9. Plastic Pollution

Polluting the environment with
Plastics – the new age material,
Polluting our rivers, lakes and ponds,

Perpetually damaging our marine life by
Pouring dirt, throwing litter, garbage,
Persistently threatening human health.

Celebrations of the world Environment day,
Committed to eradicate the plastic menace have
Connected to every state, universities and parks,

Crying out loud to beat the plastic pollution,
Communities and individuals taking up the
Cause of plastic ban as a serious objective of life.

Natural disasters or calamities cannot be escaped, but
Man-made blunders can be stopped or terminated.

….Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

10. For the Children

The rising hills, the slopes,
of statistics
lie before us,
the steep climb

of everything,
going up,
up, as we all
go down.

In the next century
or the one beyond that,
they say,

are valleys, pastures,
we can meet there in peace
if we make it.

To climb these coming crests
one word to you, to
you and your children:

stay together
learn the flowers
go light

….Gary Snyder

11. I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed–and gazed–but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

….William Wordsworth

12. The Earth Cries

Once The Earth cried in misery
Telling the planets of its slavery
The pollution we make, destroying its tendency,
“How to stop” she tells in a worry

“I cannot forget the sears they made”
“ I cannot forget the missiles they laid”
“ I cannot forget the creatures that betrayed”
That was what the Earth said.

The smoke we produce makes the Earth choke,
We have given the Earth more than a stroke,
We have a trust that we broke,
But some people are to provoke,

Our Earth was once a paradise
We are the cause of earth’s sacrifice,
I know it’s hard to apologize
But its not too late, Let’s hear the earth’s cries

….Namya Shastri,

Earth day Poem Summary

13. Lit. And Environemnt

Literature and environment,
Man and environment,
They talk it,
But understand I it not,

What is environment,
How the connection of it with man,
What it ecology,
How are they interrelated to one another?

How had it been in the past,
What harm did we do to it,
Where does the problem lie in,

Disturbing it, what did we to it,
Is it the result of urbanization,
industrialization, Mechanization?

….Bijay Kant Dubey

14. The Peace of Wild Things

Poem on Environment

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake

rests in his beauty on the water,
and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought

of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

….Wendell Berry
